Jeremy Mores McWreath (b. 1980 Washington, Pennsylvania) grew up in 10 different cities scattered thoughout the Southern and Midwestern United States. Mores became interested in aphasia while in high school in Westlake, Ohio and made several award-winning drawings and paintings about communication loss. He continued to create visual art dealing with aphasia and brain injuries while attending the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City. In 2001 Mr. McWreath started making videos about strokes and aphasia. Later that year he began the preproduction process for what would become Picturing Aphasia. After being awarded the Benjamin Menschel Fellowship for Creative Inquiry by the Cooper Union, he was able to begin production in full. Picturing Aphasia was completed in 2005.
